Tent Caterpillars

Tent caterpillars are the larvae of several different species of moth and butterflies that are found through out the United States and Canada. They multiply rapidly and can defoliate a large number of trees and shrubs in a short amount of time. Although the damage is unsightly, infestations rarely kill the plants.

Treatment And Removal

Trimming:
The best time for removal is early morning or evening while they are still likely to be in the nest.

Spraying:
For large infestations use Garden Safe Bt Worm & Caterpillar Killer. Since this is a selective insecticide, it kills tent caterpillars while remaining safe to other wildlife. Apply spray directly to foliage and tent worm nests in the evening or early morning hours while caterpillars are out of the nest.
